As Coronavirus gets more intense, Nantou County Magistrate Lin, Ming-Chen announced on the afternoon of the 20th that the Nantou Lantern Festival in 2021 will be postponed. The rescheduled date will be subject to the stability of the pandemic, and a meeting will be organized to decide whether to reschedule the event based on the situation. County Magistrate Lin also urged the public to keep in line with the Fall–Winter COVID-19 Prevention Program, wash their hands frequently, wear masks, and avoid visiting densely populated places. Coronavirus has been getting more and more severe domestically and internationally. Yesterday, the Central Epidemic Command Center also strongly recommended that large-scale events without strict implementation of a complete risk assessment should be cancelled or postponed. County Magistrate Lin invited all responsible units of the county government to hold an urgent meeting of the Nantou Lantern Festival on the afternoon of the 20th. After due consideration, a decision was made to postpone the lantern festival based on the guiding principles of the central government for epidemic prevention as the pandemic continues to spread in Taiwan at the moment. A meeting will be organized to discuss and decide the rescheduled date, scale and method based on the actual pandemic situation. The Health Bureau of Nantou County Government also pointed out that winter is the season in which the virus spreads easily. They call on citizens to keep in line with the Fall–Winter COVID-19 Prevention Program and avoid visiting densely populated places. If you need to go to densely populated places, such as hypermarkets, markets, night markets, New Year’s shopping streets, please practice social distancing in open spaces. It is also advised to wash your hands frequently, wear masks, and be sure to wash your hands after returning home.
