The 2021 National Indigenous Game will be held in Yilan County on March 19th. The torch of the Game was passed to Nantou County on the 10th. Deputy County Magistrate Chen, Cheng-Sheng, Director Lu, Cheng-Wei of the Department of Education, Deputy Director Shih, Tsun-Jen of the Indigenous Peoples Bureau, Director General Hung, Ming-Hui of the Nantou County Sports Association and others greeted the torch relay at the gate of the county government. Deputy County Magistrate Chen said that in the 2019 Indigenous Game, Nantou County won 20 gold, 11 silver, and 7 bronze. He hopes that athletes will continue to strive for glory for Nantou this year. Deputy County Magistrate Chen said that Nantou County has 3 indigenous townships: Ren-ai, Xinyi and Yuchi. Taekwondo, wrestling, basketball and tug-of-war are all Nantou’s strengths and Nantou has achieved very good results in these types of sports all previous years. This year, 500 athletes have participated in the Game, and all of them are the best. Chen believes that they will achieve good results with their efforts. The county government will continue to promote school education and various sports in the future and provide more resources to cultivate more sports talents.
