About 8,000 citizens of Nantou County need care services, but only about 200 people have been included in the care service system, which indicates that most family caregivers take care of their family with disabilities all year round. County Magistrate Lin Ming-Chen attaches importance to the needs of family caregivers, such as taking a rest properly. Therefore, five service centers for supporting family caregivers are established in the county this year. For family caregivers who need assistance, please make good use of it for various supportive and assistive services. In the afternoon of the 6th, County Magistrate Lin went to the care center at the Zhun-Tian Temple community in Zhanghe Neighborhood of Nantou City to interact with older adults in the region and promote the newly established service centers for supporting family caregivers. Lin says family caregivers have to face the change in lifestyle, a greater economic burden, stress of fewer social events, and even being unable to use long-term care services due to the pandemic, all of which could be the last straw for family caregivers. County Magistrate Lin says to strengthen the support for family caregivers and help them access the long-term care service network, the county government has applied for a subsidy of NT$ 8.7 million under the 2021 “Family Caregiver Supportive Service Innovative Project” by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and established five service centers for supporting family caregivers, so as to strengthen the network for family caregivers in social and psychological aspects.
