Seven cities and counties demonstrate regional cooperation and safeguard the health and well-being of people in central Taiwan, September 15
The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the tourism industry. To revitalize the tourism economy, mayors and magistrates of seven cities and counties in central Taiwan gathered at Nantou County Government, proposed a joint marketing project – “Central Taiwan Tourism Event – and held a press conference for kicking off the joint marketing project on central Taiwan cycling” on the 15th. The project aims to revitalize the tourism economy by connecting classic cycling tours or attractions in seven cities and counties. At the press conference, Mario Subeldia, a world-renowned sand artist, also gave a sand art performance “Bike for Life” that connects cycling routes in seven cities and counties based on the beautiful landscape, trying to attract the public to have a healthy trip.
On the 15th, County Magistrate Lin Ming-Chen invited Taichung City Mayor Lu Hsiu-Yen, Changhua County Magistrate Wang Hui-Mei, Miaoli County Magistrate Hsu Yao-Chang, Hsinchu County Magistrate Yang Wen-Ke, Yunlin County Magistrate Chang Li-Shan, and Chiayi City Deputy Mayor Chen Shu-Hui to Nantou County Government to announce the regional cooperation together. In addition, to strengthen the regional epidemic prevention, seven mayors and magistrates have signed “a statement of cooperation on joint epidemic prevention to safeguard central Taiwan”. They intend to establish a more detailed and comprehensive preventive network by working together with other cities and counties, so as to safeguard the health and safety of the public.
By integrating with the city tourism theme of “2021 Year of Cycling Tourism” promoted by the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, local governments in seven cities and counties select 20 featured cycling routes and launch a cycling event of collecting the stamps with an app, inviting the public to have a trip in cities and counties in central Taiwan by bike. Also, information on attractions and gourmet food nearby the cycling routes are collected into the “Central Taiwan Cycling Tourism E-Book”, along with the event of collecting the stamps with an app, to promote the tourism in the cities and counties by intelligent marketing. The event runs from September 16 to October 31, 2021, totaling 46 days. Apart from more than a hundred exquisite gifts and limited prizes for participants provided by the cities and counties, participants also have a chance to win a GIANT road bike worth NT$ 49,800.
