A century-old theater, a resurgence of grandeur. County Magistrate Lin unveils the nameplate of Nantou Theater, October 6
On the 6th, Nantou County Government held the opening ceremony “Century-Old Theater, A Resurgence of Grandeur” of Nantou Theater. County Magistrate Lin Ming-Chen attended the ceremony and unveiled the memories of the past behind the red heavy curtain of the Time Corridor together with County Councilor Tseng Chen-Yen and Shih Hsueh-Yen, Tsai Ting-Hung, the responsible person of Nantou Theater, Wang Min-Shih, the secretary of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, and other distinguished guests. Lin also led everyone to go through the cultural heritage over a century, enjoy classical movies and feel the cultural atmosphere of the historic building.
According to County Magistrate Lin, there were 4 movie theaters in Nantou City 30 years ago. The theaters were always full of people during holidays, when blockbusters were released and during Chinese New Year Festival. The voice of old women promoting movies on the street and in the alleys and the hand-drawn movie posters hung on the exterior wall are all nostalgic memories. Now, only the Nantou Theater remains. To retain historical memories of the Nantou people and implement the revitalization and preservation of the old building, the county government and business operators funded the planning and renovation of the building. Along with the interior renovation by business operators, the Nantou Theater is now as good as new and ready to go, which is really touching.
