Another glory of popular science education in Nantou County. Lin Ming-Chang, Wu Chun-Hsien and Chen Yu-Lin won the silver medal at the iENA 2021 in Nuremberg, Germany. On the 10th, Deputy County Magistrate Chen Cheng-Sheng met the awardees and presented the certificate of merit. Chen also encouraged the three youngsters to keep on going and bring honor to Nantou and Taiwan in the future. The iENA is the largest invention fair in the world. Taiwan’s delegation used to participate in the event every year. But due to the pandemic, Taiwan joined the event this year by providing pre-recorded videos and information. Nearly 400 inventions from 35 countries were submitted in the contest. Taiwan’s delegation has won 3 golds, 6 silvers and 3 bronzes among the 14 inventions submitted, of which two were invented by the groups from Nantou: “Sustainable Intelligence Circular Agricultural and Fishery System” by Lin Ming-Chang and “Synchronized Braking System and ABS Operation” by Wu Chun-Hsien and Chen Yu-Lin. Both of the groups have won the silver. Deputy County Magistrate Chen says that although these two inventions seem to be simple, their functionalities are quite substantial in people’s daily lives. The inventors observed problems in life and the society and brainstormed solutions with actions. The Sustainable Intelligence Circular Agricultural and Fishery System is extremely helpful for the agricultural and fishery industries, as well as the general public, in planting or keeping pets. The Synchronized Braking System and ABS Operations, inspired by traffic problems, is to avoid tragedy caused by traffic. Both of the inventions are modified and improved in detail to make people’s living conditions more complete and convenient.
