Nantou County Government sets up vaccination stations on the weekend, with the active participation of nearly 7000 people getting vaccinated in 2 days, January 17
To provide considerate and convenient vaccination services for the elderly and workers who work on weekdays, as well as encouraging the public to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and reducing the risk of infection in the communities, the Health Bureau of Nantou County Government set up 21 additional vaccination stations in 13 townships and cities in the county on the 15th and 16th. Even though most medical institutions were closed, 6,925 people in the county were still vaccinated over the two-day weekend. County Magistrate Lin Ming-Chen says he appreciates the medical staff of hospitals, clinics and health centers for setting up vaccination stations on the weekend, as well as volunteers, police officers and community workers who earnestly provided on-site services. Even though it was the weekend, they spent time doing their best for the safety and health of people in the county and providing considerate vaccination services.
After the central government announced that individuals aged 18 or older who have received two doses of COVID-19 vaccine after 12 weeks (84 days) can get their booster shots, Nantou County Government has immediately and actively encouraged people to get vaccinated. From January 7 to January 16, nearly 50,000 people have been vaccinated at medical institutions in the county. The first-dose coverage in Nantou County has reached 77.3%, the second-dose coverage has reached 69.2%, and the third-dose (booster dose) coverage has also reached 8.7%. As of January 16, Nantou County has completed the second-dose vaccination against COVID-19 and about 90,185 people can get their booster shots.
County Magistrate Lin says in the face of the recent Omicron variant strains and the increasing number of overseas acquired and local cases, the county government attaches great importance to epidemic prevention and control and has asked all relevant units to strictly take precautions to keep the virus away from the communities. For example, the Health Bureau has instructed medical institutions in the county to strictly implement various infection prevention and control measures, rapid screening or PCR tests, vaccination, awareness campaigns for health education and so on; the Public Works Department is responsible for dispatching vehicles for epidemic prevention and safe transportation; the Tourism Department has reinforced epidemic prevention control measures and inspections of quarantine hotels; the Civil Affairs Department, police stations, township offices and health centers are closely tracking those who are required to follow home quarantine regulations and so on. The mission of zero local infection case in Nantou County must be achieved.
