After the county government overcame all difficulties and raised funding of more than NT$ 510 million by itself, the construction of the “Sky Star” at Songboling in Mingjian Township, Nantou County, which has been planned for more than two years and innovatively designed, has started. On the 27th, together with Township Mayor Chen Wen-Te and other distinguished guests, County Magistrate Lin Ming-Chen burned incense to pray for blessings and held a gold shovel to start the construction, hoping that the project will be completed safely and smoothly. “Sky Star” which will become a brand-new tourist landmark that will shine in Nantou County and even throughout Taiwan, will be completed after 600 days. County Magistrate Lin says the “Sky Star” high-altitude landscape tower, with a height of 50 meters and a magnificent and unique shape, was originally inspired by the idea of Lin Ju-Pin, the chairman of Kuomintang Nantou Headquarters who serves as his special assistant. As the construction has begun, Lin Ju-Pin also brought up the idea of combining Sky Star and the high-altitude viewing walkway in the valley of the Shoutian Temple to further achieve the goal of attracting pilgrims to visit. Lin also says the management and operation will be directly taken over by the county government once it is completed and open to public. It is expected to attract at least 2 million tourists to Mingjian Township and Nantou County every year, including pilgrims visiting the Shoutian Temple at Songboling. The annual revenue is expected to exceed NT$ 100 million simply by selling admission tickets. Coupled with the business opportunities of surrounding hotels and agricultural special products, it will certainly take Nantou, the tourism capital of Taiwan, to new heights again.
