The Nantou Lantern Festival was kicked off brightly at the Nantou Exhibition Center on January 29. In the opening event, the Nantou local Zen drum team was invited to welcome County Magistrate Lin Ming-Chen and all the distinguished guests to light the lamp on stage with majestic drumming. The cute featured lantern “Lucky Tiger” was then officially lit up. This year’s Nantou Lantern Festival has combined tourism features with ten highlights, presenting a lantern festival that integrates tradition, art and technology. County Magistrate, Lin Ming-Chen says proudly that this year’s Nantou Lantern Festival has presented performances on the land, on the water, and in the sky. Through the wonderful water dance show with symphonies playing and the fireworks animation projected by 300 drones, the magnificent view of the cultures and humanities in Nantou has been highlighted. Along with a variety of lantern areas based on ten highlights, tourists can experience the sea of flowers, exhibitions and art works during the day and watch the symphonic water dance, performances by excellent teams and lanterns at night; Lin gives special thanks to enterprises in the county for sponsoring and supporting the event, as well as the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications for their funding. At the same time, epidemic prevention measures have been implemented in the most rigorous manner at the Nantou Lantern Festival. There are five controlled entrances in the lantern area. Visitors are required to complete real-name registration, wear a mask, disinfect hands and measure body temperature when entering. The lantern festival will open until February 20.
