Nantou Lantern Festival features performances that were just breathtaking. On the 13th, apart from a four-and-a-half-minute fireworks show and performances by PINK FUN and other outstanding groups, Chen Lei, who’s a well-known singer, was also invited to sing “Hua Hee Tio Ho” (Don't worry, be happy) and other most recognizable songs in Taiwan. Although it rained, the performances drew a capacity crowd. County Magistrate Lin Ming-Chen and his wife, Legislator Hsu Shu-Hua, and Deputy County Magistrate Chen Cheng-Sheng were also present to enjoy the amazing performances with the public. The scene was lively. As it was also County Magistrate Lin Ming-Chen’s birthday, Chen Lei especially presented flowers to him and cut the cake with him, which was heart-warming. Earlier on, County Magistrate Lin and Legislator Hsu also gave commemorative coins, pens that bring luck for exams, and pastries that give good health and longevity to the public. There was a long queue for it, heating up the lantern festival even further. County Magistrate Lin said that Nantou Lantern Festival has new features every year, and that the ten major features this year have gained popularity among the public, which drew people throughout Taiwan to Nantou for a trip, such as going to the lantern festival, enjoying tasty food, and having some fine tea. The accumulated number of visitors since the opening has exceeded 2 million, which is a successful boost to tourists’ consumption value in surrounding areas.
