Nantou Principal Meeting, County Magistrate Lin urges care and accompany for children, February 13
The Primary and Secondary Education Principal Meeting for the second semester of the 2021 academic year kicked off at Mingjian Elementary School on the 13th. Principals of 185 senior and junior high schools and elementary schools attended the meeting, which was a two-day discussion for exchanging ideas based on the subject “Character Education, Nurture by Nature—Pushing for Bilingual Education and Innovative Experiment Program.” County Magistrate Lin Ming-Chen presided over the opening ceremony. Apart from presenting the certificate to 9 mentor principals who pass on their knowledge in education, including Ma Hui-Ti, Lin also presented the certificate of merit to 9 schools whose lessen plans have won the High Distinction Award in the Marine Education Project, including Shiukuang Senior High School. In his remark, Lin urged all principals to follow the principles of Nurture by Nature, teach with love rather than harsh discipline, and guide their teachers to care for students, accompany and encourage them to learn.
The Principal Meeting was organized by Mingjian Elementary School. Director Lu Cheng-Wei of the Education Department led Deputy Director Wang Shu-Ling, heads of various sections, and inspectors to participated in the meeting throughout the whole process. Principals of 185 senior and junior high schools and elementary schools came together to discuss and exchange ideas about educational philosophy and policies, and share the practices and awareness campaigns of their schools. The meeting was kicked off by Mingjian Elementary School’s recorder group with an amazing performance, with the participation of County Magistrate Lin Ming-Chen and County Councilor Chang Chia-Che.
County Magistrate Lin said that during his nearly eight-year term of office, he insists on providing students in Nantou with free lunch. This year, the unit price of lunch has been increased to NT$ 45. In addition, Lin has proposed the idea of installing air conditioners in classrooms. As for the five industrial parks he pushed for, including Fuxing Hot Spring, it is certainly to add at least NT$ 4.1 billion to county treasury. During his term, the county government debt has been decreased to NT$ 7.9 billion while the investment on construction keeps increasing, especially in terms of education. Lin fully supports principals to make a reform, saying that they only need to directly make a proposal to him before he retires from office, and that he will provide assistance for campus construction projects to the best of his ability. Lin especially urges them to not give up on any child, but to find a way to help children regain their confidences and learning passion, and to teach not with harsh discipline, but with love and accompany along their learning journeys.
