To encourage the citizens of Nantou County to get vaccinated against COVID-19, the Nantou County Government took the opportunity of the February 28 consecutive holidays and announced that from February 26 to March 15, all Nantou citizens aged 18 and above who get their third dose of the vaccine, and the older adults aged 65 and above (indigenous people aged 55 and above) who get vaccinated, can make an appointment with the nearest health center or contract medical institution for the vaccination and they will receive a NT$ 100 gift certificate. If all gift certificates are distributed, it will be replaced with a gift of equal value. Welcome to get vaccinated if possible. On February 26, the Nantou County Government especially set up 2 large-scale vaccination stations at the Tzu Chi liaison office in Nantou City and the middle corridor of the Caotun Township Office. Except for the Xinyi Township Dili Village Health Room and the Ren’ai Township Fazhi Village Activity Center, where vaccination services were provided, the other 9 townships and cities adopted the method of setting up vaccination stations in the local health clinics. In addition, the Carrefour Nantou branch also assisted in setting up a vaccination station in the store, so that shoppers can easily get vaccinated without making an appointment. County Magistrate Lin Ming-Chen said that currently the third-dose vaccination rate for people aged 18 and above in Nantou County is still slightly lower than the national average. To increase the vaccination rate for older adults aged 65 and above, the county government mobilized township offices and public health centers again this week, to give written notice to older adults aged 65 and above who are eligible for the third dose based on registration and neighborhood and encourage them to go to the public health centers or large-scale vaccination stations to get vaccinated. Vaccination coverage is one of the important factors to be considered when easing restrictions for epidemic prevention. County Magistrate Lin urges the public to get vaccinated if possible. The Public Health Bureau of the Nantou County Government will continue to increase the total number of vaccine booster doses administered, provide more convenient and diverse vaccination channels and encourage the public to be fully vaccinated. It’s about strengthening our immunity, especially we can only be effectively protected after the third dose. Also, Lin reminds everyone to develop correct personal hygiene habits and get well prepared for the new life when the epidemic prevention measures are eased in the future.
