In the morning of the 6th, Deputy County Magistrate Chen Cheng-sheng went to the Danan Cooperative Farm in Puli Township to greet Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-che, Deputy Mayor Huang Shan-shan and the team of the Taipei City Government, and held a forum with local business operators in the floral industry to exchange views on the cold chain as well as the flower production and marketing issues. Deputy County Magistrate Chen said in the forum that since 39% of the annual supply of the Danan Cooperative Farm is transported to the Taipei Flower Market for sales, it is recommended that the Taipei City Government provide market management fees and preference utilization rates for prioritizing cold chain logistics to reduce the cost of cold chain logistics. It is also hoped that assistance will be provided for the marketing and advertising of Nantou’s high-quality flowers and special agricultural products, and that venues will be provided for the exhibitions and sales in Taipei to strive for the prosperity and development of the floral and special agricultural industry in both Taipei City and Nantou County, and establish a good foundation for future cooperation between Taipei and Nantou. In addition, it is hoped to jointly improve the first flower cold chain supply system in Taiwan and benefit the floral industry. It was highly recognized by Mayor Ko and a consensus was reached. Mayor Ko agreed to discuss the best plan to help flower farmers provide high-quality flowers. Deputy County Magistrate Chen expressed his appreciation to Mayor Ko for leading his team to visit the cold chain industry in Nantou County and learning about the production and marketing situation and needs, with the aim of assisting farmers’ organizations in supplying quality flowers and improving the cold chain supply system to reach a consensus. There’s a variety of flowers in Nantou, accounting for 40% to 50% of the domestic supply to domestic flower markets and lilies in summer account for 80% to 90% of the domestic supply, which is a very high proportion. About 39% of the annual production of the Danan Cooperative Farm is transported to the Taipei Flower Market, which is also a very high proportion. Finding ways to improve the quality of flowers transported to the market, promoting Nantou’s floral and agricultural products, reducing supply and marketing costs and making the cold chain supply system more complete will be the goals of Taipei and Nantou to work on together.
