In the morning of the 9th, county councilor Shih Ching-lung accompanied Lu Fang-chuan, supervisor of the Tzu Chi Foundation and 5 local volunteers to the county government and asked the county government for assistance on the issue of electrical safety in the pre-fabricated buildings of the Yidashao tribe in Sun Moon Lake, which were built after the 1999 Jiji earthquake. Deputy County Magistrate Chen Cheng-sheng greeted them and exchanged opinions on the issue of improving electrical safety in the pre-fabricated buildings in the meeting. Liu Wei-che, director of the Public Construction Department of the Council of the Indigenous Peoples, also attended the meeting. Deputy County Magistrate Chen expressed his gratitude to the Tzu Chi Foundation for paying attention to the electrical safety of the Thao people living in the pre-fabricated buildings. Chen also delegated personnel to actively discuss and provide necessary assistance under the conditions permitted by laws and regulations to improve the power quality while keeping it safe and convenient for the community. Deputy County Magistrate Chen said that the pre-fabricated buildings were built after the 1999 Jiji earthquake to resettle the affected Thao people. It has been more than 20 years so far and there are currently dozens of residents living in the pre-fabricated buildings. However, as the pre-fabricated buildings were only meant for temporary resettlement purposes and have been used for 20 years, the circuits there are old and messy, which are likely to cause public safety problems. In response to local reports, the Tzu Chi Foundation invited the Council of the Indigenous Peoples to conduct an inspection and agreed to assist in the improvement. However, their improvement plan requires the assistance of the county government as the land, on which the pre-fabricated buildings are located, is intended for tourism, cultural and recreational purposes under the management of the county government. Therefore, Supervisor Lu and Director Liu of the Council of the Indigenous Peoples came to negotiate. The county government attaches great importance to the safety and property of the Thao people living in the pre-fabricated buildings and appreciates the kindness of the Tzu Chi Foundation. To facilitate the process of the electrical safety improvement plan, the county government will actively discuss suitable plans under the conditions permitted by laws and regulations to improve the quality of life of the Thao people in the community.
