The Taiwan Junior Chamber of Commerce will hold a road running event “Run For Love” on April 30. In the morning of the 15th, a press conference was held in the lobby on the first floor of the Nantou County Government. Deputy County Magistrate Chen Cheng-sheng attended the press conference to show his support and urged people to pay attention to and achieve gender equality and reject violence in accordance with the fifth provision of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. The organizer of “Run For Love” is organized by the Taiwan Junior Chamber and implemented by the Nantou Jayceerettes. The event will be held in Zhongxing New Village on April 30, the eve of Mother’s Day, with a 5-kilometer road race and Q&A activities for the participants to learn about anti-violence and gender equality knowledge. In addition to Deputy County Magistrate Chen, Executive Secretary Chen Tsung-chih of Nantou County Industrial Development and Investment Promotion Committee, Lin Ju-yang, a secretary to the county magistrate, President Huang Hsin-hao of Taiwan Junior Chamber, and President Chang Ya-ling of Nantou Jayceerettes also attended. Deputy County Magistrate Chen appreciated the Taiwan Junior Chamber for cooperating with the county government and sparing no effort in promoting public welfare for such a long time. It is especially scheduled that the road race be held on the eve of Mother’s Day, with the aim of promoting the fifth of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations—to achieve gender equality and reject violence and in response to the concepts and actions of “protecting oneself, respecting others, gender equality and rejecting violence.” The county government has also been raising the awareness on the issue of caring for equal rights and promoting the concept of respecting women’s rights over a long period of time.
