At the request of Legislator Hsu Shu-hua of the Transportation Committee, Legislative Yuan, Minister of MOTC Wang Kuo-tsai led the Tourism Bureau, the Maritime and Port Bureau and the Directorate General of Highways to Sun Moon Lake on the 31st to conduct an on-site inspection on the tourism and transportation development bottlenecks in Nantou County, including Sun Moon Lake, as well as the construction plans that need to be reinforced as soon as possible. During the forum with local business operators, it was agreed that a subsidy of NT$ 55.8 million will be given to the Nantou County Government for Sun Moon Lake E-tickets and other funding projects. In addition, the Tourism Bureau and the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration were instructed to continue strengthening the foundation and revitalization of Nantou County’s tourism. County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen was present for the whole process. He especially appreciated Legislator Xu and Minister Wang for their attention and support to the future development of the tourism capital—Nantou County. On the 31st, Minister Wang and Legislator Xu inspected Sun Moon Lake and attended the forum. In addition to County Magistrate Lin and Director Chen Chih-hsien of Nantou Tourism Department, who were present the whole process, Director Lin Fu-shan of the Department of Railways and Highways, Director Chang Hsi-tsung of the Tourism Bureau, Director Chien Ching-fa of the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration, Director Chen Wen-jui of the Directorate General of Highways, Director Yeh Hsieh-lung of the Maritime and Port Bureau, Chairman Wang Ying-sheng of the Sun Moon Lake Yacht Association and Chairman Wei Chen-yu of the Nantou Tourism Alliance Association, which is composed of more than 30 tourism and accommodation associations and many other business representatives attended the forum. County Magistrate Lin said that the Nantou County Government proposed several projects during the inspection of Minister Wang, which was arranged by Legislator Hsu of the Transportation Committee, Legislative Yuan. The plans include a project of NT$ 62 million for promoting the Sun Moon Lake yacht e-ticket, a project of NT$ 6 million for enhancing the competitiveness of the hotel industry, a project of NT$ 6 million for Nantou County’s tourism integration and a project of NT$ 18 million for developing and upgrading Nantou County’s tourism products, all of which have been given priority by Minister Wang to provide subsidies. In addition, it is also expected that the Fuxing Hot Spring self-driving zone will be included in the self-driving demonstration project by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The subsidy that can be obtained in the next five years could reach up to NT$ 179 million.
