Ensuring students’ rights, Nantou Junior High School Skills Competition held as scheduled with epidemic prevention measures, April 16
As the pandemic is getting worse, given the fact that the performance of skill competitions directly affects the scores of students applying for special achievement and screening-based admission, the county government has overcome difficulties and taken epidemic prevention measures to make the 2022 Junior High School Skill Competition happen as scheduled with the support of Tung Der High School and other schools. On the 16th, County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen went to Tung Der High School to learn about the situation of contestants. Lin praised Tung Der High School for ensuring students’ rights, overcoming the challenges of the pandemic and allowing more than 600 students in Nantou to go all out for the skill competition in accordance with preventive measures.
County Magistrate Lin said that the Nantou County Government allocates a budget of NT$ 10 million each year for schools to launch skills programs, so that 32 junior high schools in Nantou have skills programs, fulfilling student’s desire of acquiring knowledge and learning skills. More than 3,000 ninth-graders have taken the electives. Also, more than NT$ 1 million was spent in organizing the competition to offer a stage for students to show their confidence and hard work.
This year, more than 600 students signed up for the competition, and more than 400 students participated in the competitions of five occupational groups, including hospitality and tourism, home economics, food science, design, and art, in Tung Der High School. County Magistrate Lin appreciates Chairman Hsu Te-hsiang of Tung Der High School and Principal Tung Chien-wen for leading their team to meticulously organize the event, such as making plans for epidemic prevention and using protective clothing and protective covers, so that the contestants and the teachers and students serving during the competition are guaranteed the best protection possible against the pandemic.
