On the morning of the 6th, a vaccination campaign against COVID-19 was held for students of Guang Fu Elementary School in Nantou City, which was the first school in Nantou to do so. Accompanied by Director Lu Cheng-wei of the Education Department and Director Chen Nan-sung of the Health Bureau, Nantou County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen went to the school to learn about the vaccination situation. Knowing that only 11 out of 66 students in the school were willing to get vaccinated, County Magistrate Lin once again urged people to get their children vaccinated for health promotion. County Magistrate Lin said that COVID-19 isn’t hitting as hard in schools in Nantou and that the spread is controlled better than other regions in Taiwan. Vaccination campaigns will be carried out starting from May 9 after Guang Fu Elementary School took the lead. For parents who haven’t decided and missed the vaccination campaign this time, they can take their children to 86 contract hospitals and clinics in Nantou to get vaccinated. Lin also urged all adults and children to get vaccinated without delay as the peak of COVID-19 is coming, to be well-prepared and take preventive measures. In addition, he reminded parents to pay extra attention to their children after vaccination as children might be too young to express themselves well.
