County Magistrate Lin pays tribute to healthcare workers on International Nurses Day, May 12
International Nurses Day is celebrated annually on May 12. For many registered nurses, things are much different this year. Director Chen Nan-sung of the Health Bureau of the Nantou County Government said that it has been a great challenge for the medical staff over the past 2 years due to COVID-19. Chen appreciates all medical staff and others who have been working hard for epidemic prevention and hopes that the general public will stay calm and keep in line with the government’s epidemic prevention policies to minimize the impact of the pandemic. It is also hoped that people will be more supportive and give words of encouragement to public health workers and that all will get through the hardest time together.
It has been a great challenge for the medical staff over the past 2 years due to COVID-19 and all of them have been doing their part in epidemic prevention. A majority of medical staff are healthcare workers, who play crucial roles in hospitals, clinics, communities, schools and workplaces and are professional workers providing services to the general public on the front lines. County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen said that May is a heart-warming month with Mother's Day and International Nurses Day; however, healthcare workers have no time to take care of their own family or themselves but to work overtime as the confirmed cases of COVID-19 is surging, which is too much for everyone. As such, on the eve of International Nurses Day, accompanied by Director Chen Nan-sung of the Health Bureau, County Magistrate Lin went to the Nantou Epidemic Prevention and Operation Center on the 5th floor of the Health Bureau to care for the staff, including Hung Mei-yin, head of the Communicable Disease Control Division and offer desserts as an encouragement. Lin also reminded workers to take rest properly and take care of themselves to be able to accomplish their work.
