On the 26th, Deputy County Magistrate Chen Cheng-sheng attended and presided over the public security report meeting. Chen praised the financial institution personnel for aiding in fraud prevention and offered them cash rewards as they were observant and asked the proper questions. With such spirit of preventing fraud actively, they’ve made the network of fraud prevention more robust and successfully helped prevent fraud to provide protection to people’s properties. Deputy County Magistrate Chen said that financial institution personnel and convenience store clerks are the ones on the front lines of internet fraud prevention. With their vigilance and zeal, fraud cases can be avoided efficiently. From March to April, a total of 29 fraud cases have been avoided under the cooperation of financial institutions, convenience stores and the general public. In all of these cases, the personnel noticed abnormal signs when someone was making a withdrawal or remittance and reported them to the police in their jurisdiction. For the fraud cases that have been avoided successfully, up to NT$ 8,923,500 were intercepted. The Bureau will reinforce the awareness campaigns based on different groups and in different ways to remind people to stay vigilant and work together in fraud prevention.
