Nantou County Government improves Lixing Industrial Road with asphalt concrete pavements, May 26
Nantou 89th Country Road (Lixing Industrial Road), which was called the worst road in Taiwan as landslides would happen whenever it rains, has been great improved after years of efforts by County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen and the Nantou County Government. The road quality has been recognized by residents. On the 26th, County Magistrate Lin went to Lixing Industrial Road for an inspection, saying that he has been dedicated to improving Lixing Industrial Road for more than 7 years since he took office as county magistrate. This year, a budget of NT$ 230 million has been designated for the improvement project of Ren’ai Township Nantou 89th Country Road 0K to 53.227K, aiming to improve the asphalt concrete roads. The project is expected to be completed by the end of this year, which will make it more convenient for transporting agricultural products and make it safer for residents using the roads.
County Magistrate Lin said that the construction of Lixing Industrial Road was first approved by former county magistrate Lin Yang-kang. However, the road condition was always bad over the years. Lin noticed the bad road condition when he was going up the mountain for electoral campaigns and has been determined to fix damaged sections and improve road conditions ever since.
From 2004 to 2021, 15 road restoration projects have been completed, fixing more than 65 collapsed sections, with an expense of about NT$ 1.02 billion; from 2016 to 2020, 5 road surface improvement projects have been completed under the Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Program, improving the roads with a length of about 14.3 kilometers in total, with an expense of about NT$ 140 million. To make the road quality better, the Nantou County Ren’ai Township Nantou 89th Country Road Damaged Surface and Dangerous Sections Improvement Project was launch in 2021, aiming to improve bad road conditions in remaining sections with asphalt concrete pavements. The roads to be improved are about 7 kilometers in length, with an expense of about NT$ 81.426 million. The project is expected to be completed by August this year.
