Zhushan Lingde Temple celebrates the City God’s birthday, County Magistrate Lin prays for the end of the pandemic by setting off firecrackers, July 13
On June 15 of the lunar calendar, a prayer event with the City God parade was held at the 191-year-old Lingde Temple in Zhushan Township to celebrate the City God’s birthday, along with dozens of nearby temples jointly organizing this grand event. After gathering in the morning, County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen and Chairman Lin Hsin-hsiung took the lead in setting off firecrackers, which is a signal for the parade to set off, with the City God and other gods’ sedan chairs moving along. The parade walked around the Zhushan Township to pray for blessings. Wherever the parade went, it was full of people. Some also set up tables with offerings and burned incense devoutly to pray for the blessings of the City God.
County Magistrate Lin said that the staff of the Zhushan Lingde Temple and believers devoutly and passionately celebrated the City God’s birthday and organized the City God’s parade, hoping that the City God will bless Zhushan Township and Nantou County and that the pandemic will be eliminated as soon as possible, so that residents will live happily and safely. Lin also prayed that the projects Nantou County Government has been pushing for will be successful.
