On the evening of the 14th, a shocking shooting incident occurred in Caotun Township, Nantou County, resulting in four deaths and one being seriously injured. Under the command of the Nantou District Prosecutors Office and the National Police Agency and in collaboration with the Taichung City Police Department, the central Criminal Investigation Bureau Anti-crime Center and the National Police Agency Special Operations Group, Special Police First Headquarters, the Nantou County Police Bureau worked tirelessly and perseveringly in investigating the incident, which was successfully solved at noon today. Within 21 hours of the incident, the suspect surnamed Li was arrested and a large number of firearms and other criminal tools were seized. County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen strongly affirmed the conscientious efforts of the police staff, and awarded a bonus of NT$ 100,000 to Director Huang Yung-chih of the Nantou Police Bureau. Lin also urged prosecutors, police and the investigation bureaus of both local and central governments to pay attention to the issue of illegal firearms. In addition to the need to trace the source of the firearms used in the incident, it is necessary to thoroughly investigate and crack down on illegal firearms as it should be eliminated in Taiwan.
