Residents celebrate the improvement and opening to traffic of roads around Taiping Lane, Tongfu Village, Xinyi Township, August 9
The road project around Taiping Lane, Tongfu Village, Xinyi Township, which cost NT$ 16 million, has made the road surface level and improved the drainage after construction. On the 9th, County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen presided over the ribbon-cutting ceremony, announcing the opening to traffic, with the participation of the residents living nearby. Performances of war drums and lion dances were presented to celebrate the opening to traffic and express appreciation to the Nantou County Government for its efforts to create a safe way home for the local people.
As the roads around Taiping Lane, Tongfu Village are old, damaged and not safe for driving, the county government and Legislator Hsu Shu-hua sought for subsidies from the Construction and Planning Agency. A fund of NT$ 15 million was approved, of which the Construction and Planning Agency subsidized NT$ 12.6 million and the county government provided NT$ 2.4 million. The project includes the lifting and laying of asphalt concrete pavement, the setting of drainage ditches and L-shaped ditches, the addition of retaining walls, the reinforcement of existing low walls and the improvement of roadbeds. The county government subsequently spent another NT$ 1 million on the project to perfect the surrounding roads.
County Magistrate Lin said that there are more than 600 residents in the 7th and 8th neighborhoods of Tongfu Village and that the roads around Taiping Lane have not been renovated for a long time. But the roads and drainage have been replaced now, effectively improving the safety of drivers and those who work in agricultural product transportation. The residents are delighted and gave thanks to Legislator Hsu for assisting in securing funds from the central government. In the future, the county government will continue to carry out essential construction.
