The 40th Sun Moon Lake International Swimming Carnival series events to kick off in September 3, August 25
The Sun Moon Lake International Swimming Carnival—an international swimming event that many are excited about, is about to kick off. On the 25th, the Nantou County Government held a grand press conference in the lobby on the first floor. The press conference was presided over by County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen. Together with distinguished guests, including Legislator Hsu Shu-hua and County Councilor Chang Chia-che, and Director Chien Ching-fa of the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration, County Magistrate Lin officially announced the kickoff of the 2022 40th Sun Moon Lake International Swimming Carnival series events and the 2022 8th Sun Moon Lake Open Water Swimming Challenge.
This year, there are 1,669 teams participating in the swimming carnival, with 18,709 participants, including 286 foreign swimmers in Taiwan and 180 swimmers with disabilities. In the Open Water Swimming Championships, there are 19 top national champions signing up in the elite group, 93 participants signing up in the age-based group, 1,455 participants signing up in the challenge group. In addition, there are 46 participants signing up for the SUP competition, which will be held once again this year. Although the pandemic has eased off recently, strict epidemic prevention measures are still taken for the event. County Magistrate Lin calls on all swimmers to be cooperative and keep in line with the epidemic prevention measures announced by the organizers so that the swimming carnival will set the best example of epidemic prevention in large-scale events.
