The Nantou Senior and Charity Card has become even better! After increasing the monthly subsidy from NT$ 300 to NT$ 1,000, County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen once again presents more benefits. According to the Nantou County Government, Nantou Senior and Charity Cards can now be used for taxi services that are in cooperation with the county government starting from December 1. It will be much more convenient and easier for seniors and people with disabilities to use transportation services.
County Mayor Lin said that the county government attaches great importance to the welfare of older adults and people with disabilities and has always hoped to expand the use of the Senior and Charity Card, to make it more convenient for residents in need. Lin expressed his gratitude to Legislator Hsu Shu-hua for her continued attention and assistance on this matter. In 2019, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and the Ministry of Health and Welfare were invited to the Legislative Yuan for a meeting that aims to facilitate this project. In the future, the county government will continue to strive for the approval, so that the card can be used on the Taiwan Railway services, making it easier for seniors to travel and reduce their burden.
According to the county government, there are currently more than 75,000 senior and charity cards issued. Since 2015, the monthly subsidy has been increased from 300 points to 1,000 points (1 point equals NT$ 1) and the service will be expanded and can be used on certain taxi services (originally only recognized by 13 intercity bus services or the Kuo-Kuang Motor Transportation that has contracted by the county government). In addition, the maximum subsidy for each trip is 85 points (NT$), which can be deducted from the subsidy of 1,000 points and the remaining fees can be paid using the added value in the card or paid in cash.
