Told by different sectors, the stories about the endeavors and dedications of ordinary people to Nantou were narrated directly and wholeheartedly, highlighting the efforts of the Nantou County Government team, which had transformed Nantou into a place in the core of the island and at the heart of Taiwan, where people were willing to explore and develop with joy and happiness. Lin Min-Chen said, “the ‘extraordinary at the heart of Taiwan’ represents Nantou residents’ dedication and contribution.”
In the new book presentation ceremony, representatives from the businesses and associations were invited. With the introduction of Li Chien-Hsing – Editor-in-Chief of Global Views Monthly, Magistrate Lin Ming-Chen, Chairperson Liu Chih-An of Taipei Association Astronomers Amateur and Kao Yu-Chun – the owner of Kanon Café and Farm as well as one of the 100 Distinguished Young Farmers talked about the exciting stories collected in the book. Li Chien-Hsing pointed out that Central Core – The Extraordinary at the Heart of the Island tells the stories of Nantou from six perspectives, including tourism, products (tea and coffee), industrial park, youth start-up, medicine and education with the stories of 51 extraordinary people struggling and the efforts of the county governance team on this piece of land, manifesting their simple but adamant personalities to people in the country.
At the end of the new book presentation ceremony, Magistrate Lin answered the questions of the reporters regarding what were the most touching events in the past 8 years? Without thinking, Magistrate Lin replied that of course these should be the things I did for the people in the county. I had almost achieved all the goals in my plan. He had just come up with some ideas. With a strong governance team, they had endured all the difficulties and dedicated themselves to achieve the objectives. Eventually, they had overcome all the barriers and accomplished their goals, including the Qingjing Skywalk, Double Dragon Waterfall Suspension Bridge, Ruilong Waterfall, Mingjian Nursery Parent-Child and Ecological Park, Caotun Handicraft Industrial Park built on the land of a former public cemetery and Fuxing Hot Spring that obtained the first hot spring hotel license in the county and won several awards as soon as it was opened. The unfinished projects of the Star of Songling and Jiujiufeng Helium Ballon Theme Park were also accomplished significantly. What made him proud was the five major industrial parks that had already earned NT$4 billion for the county government for the expenditure of the next county magistrate in building housing for the youth in different towns and townships, parent-child parks, nationals sports centers and many other major constructions.
