Nantou Global Tea Expo Opens on Oct. 7th, Sep. 26th
The 13th annual Nantou Global Tea Expo will open on Oct. 7th in Chung Hsing New Village. The nine-day expo features 3 major zones, 28 exhibition halls with more than 22 themes in tea industry, Thousands People Brewing Tea, Thousands People Brown Rice Lei Cha, Thousands People Collectable Tea, Little Tea Sommeliers’ Tea Service, and Thousands People Tea Banquet. County Mayor Hsu ShuHua sincerely invited tea lovers to Nantou to taste and explore the best tea and enjoy local dishes incorporating tea leaves. On the morning of Sep. 26th, County Mayor Hsu ShuHua hosted a press conference for the 2023 Nantou Global Tea Expo in the first floor lobby of the county government hall, announcing the official launch of the 13th Nantou Global Tea Expo on Oct 7th, together with Deputy County Mayor Wang RuiDe, Deputy Director of Agriculture and Food Agency of MOA Su MaoXiang, county councilors Chen SueHuei, Song HuaiLin, Yu Hao, Chien ChienHsiang and Lin YoYo, Nantou City Mayor Chang ChiaChe, Mayor of Guoxing Township Qiu MeiLing, Chairperson of Renai Township Council Hong WenQuan, Chief Executive Officer of County Farmers’ Association Tseng MingRui, Director of LuGu Township Farmers’ Association Chen WunYi and Chief Executive Officers of 13 Township/City Farmers’ Associations. County Mayor Hsu said that under the collaboration and great efforts of the County Farmers’ Association and Farmers’ Associations at all levels, as well as the strong support of the County Council, the annual Nantou Global Tea Expo has been held for 13 years. It is a grand event in the tea industry and is highly anticipated by tea lovers all over Taiwan. She expressed her gratitude to the Agriculture and Food Agency, MOA for its financial support over the years. This year, the expo features 3 major exhibition zones with optimized flow of movement between, 28 thematic halls with more than 22 themes in tea industry, and an array of large-scale exciting activities on Saturday and Sunday, including Thousands People Brewing Tea, Thousands People Brown Rice Lei Cha, Thousands People Collectable Tea, Little Tea Sommeliers' Tea Service and Thousands People Tea Banquet. In addition to the popular halls from previous years, such as Award Winning Tea Tasting Hall, International Tea Ceremony Hall, and Lyrical Flowing Water, Dancing Cups of Tea, some new pavilions are added this year, including Nantou Youth Farmers’ Pavilion, Taiwan Heritage Tea Pavilion, and Taiwan Tea Technology and Flavor Specialty Pavilion, allowing participants to have a deep understanding of the tea from Nantou and various countries. About 53% of the total land used for growing tea in Taiwan is in Nantou County. The tea industry is a significant one for the county. The 13th Tea Expo is expected to be a success as usual and move towards the international market. With the International Tea Ceremony Hall, local tea lovers will be able to explore the best tea all over the globe, and to taste and purchase various types of tea in the expo, such as old tea, black tea, oolong tea, organic tea and functional tea. Moreover, County Mayor Hsu pointed out that in addition to the innovative projects at the Tea Expo this year, the Tea Cultural Route is newly organized with 4 routes, allowing participants to have a tea trip not only in the activity venues during the Tea Expo, but also in ZhuShan, LuGu, and MingJian. Furthermore, reservations for Chinese and English guided tour and English real-time translation service via AI device will be available in the venue to assist domestic and foreign friends to experience the Tea Expo and the charm of Nantou tea. For the convenience of the public to arrive the venue and for easing the holiday crowds and traffic, the county government will provide free shuttle buses from the County Stadium to the venue via the Civil Service Development Institute and the Arena during holidays. Everyone is welcome to take advantage of these services.
