In order to promote the concept of Farm-to-Table and to market the high-quality agricultural products of Nantou, the county government has joined forces with 7-ELEVEN for the first time this year to sell products from Nantou County, such as Leopard Cat BANANA (石虎山蕉) from Zhongliao Township, through the ibon e-commerce platform or the specific counter at nearly 7,000 stores across Taiwan and also stores in some national highway rest areas. In addition, some seasonal fresh fruits, such as grapes, bananas and passion fruits, are available on-site in designated stores, catering to consumers' diverse purchasing needs.
on the morning of the 29th, County Mayor Hsu ShuHua went to the 7-ELEVEN Hongbao store in Caotun Township to participate the "FUN Holiday! Let’s Travel with Fruits! (FUN假囉!跟著水果趣旅行)" pocket picture book and DIY game experience activity organized by the Good Neighbor Foundation (統一超商好鄰居文教基金會). In addition to learning about the high-quality summer fruits from Nantou County and the source of food together with the participating kindergarten students, she promoted the Tasting Nantou (品味南投) brand to showcase Nantou County's rich agricultural resources. During the activity, the Tasting Nantou pocket agricultural picture book was released. County Mayor Hsu painted it with the children, and the children happily gave the completed book to her as a gift, creating a cozy atmosphere.
According to County Mayor Hsu, the county government established the Tasting Nantou Management Center in 2023 and built a verification mechanism. Products are divided into 5 categories: agricultural products, processed goods, daily necessities, cultural and creative crafts and farm tours. Up to now, a total of 114 agricultural enterprises have joined and 253 products have obtained certification. The joined enterprises are expected to be over 200 next year. This year, the county government has collaborated with President Chain Store Corporation (統一超商) for the first time to make the products of Tasting Nantou hit shelves in 7-ELEVEN stores in the seven major national highway rest areas in Taiwan in early September, enabling travelers to enjoy the wonderful taste of Nantou products while traveling. Moreover, various seasonal fruits, such as grapes from Shuili, Leopard Cat BANANA and passion fruits from Puli, are available for order via the ibon e-commerce platform at nearly 7,000 stores across Taiwan. This collaboration not only opens up new sales channels for Nantou farmers, but also allows people across Taiwan have the opportunity to taste Nantou’s high-quality agricultural products. In the activity, the "FUN Holiday! Let’s Travel with Fruits!" pocket picture book released by the Good Neighbor Foundation is used to teach the children about not only Nantou's high-quality local fruits and Leopard Cat BANANA, but the characteristics of Nantou's agricultural products, reinforcing practices of sustainability in the 108 Curriculum.
County Mayor Hsu pointed out that the agricultural products hit the shelves this time are produced by the local farmers supported by the county government. During the planting process, farmers insisted on not using chemical fertilizers and herbicides to retain a safe and friendly habitat for the leopard cats, a protected animal, to maintain biodiversity. County Mayor Hsu invites consumers to use the ibon platform at 7-ELEVEN stores across Taiwan to purchase the high-quality agricultural products of "Tasting Nantou" to support land-friendly sustainable agriculture and increase farmers' income.
