The trial run for the 114th National Day fireworks in Nantou took place on the evening of September16th. In just three minutes, over 1,000 fireworks were launched, filling the night sky with brilliant bursts of color. Crowds gathered to witness the dazzling spectacle, letting out gasps of amazement at the stunning display.

The purpose of the trial was to test the deployment and fallout of 3- to 8-inch shells. Nantou County Mayor Hsu Shu-Hua was present at the site to ensure the launch angles and safety measures were properly in place. This trial event functioned as a “mini rehearsal” for the official National Day celebration, aimed at ensuring everything runs smoothly on the big day.

The trial firing generated a wave of excitement ahead of the official event. Along the banks of the Maoluo River, spectators staked out prime viewing spots early in the day, setting up tripods and cameras in anticipation. To facilitate the event, traffic control was implemented from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM across ten road sections, including Huayang Road, Shunxi North Road, Dongmin Road, Yingzhong Road, Pingshankeng Drainage Road, Zuci Road, Yule Road, Fangmei Road, and Xinyi Street. Additionally, due to weight restrictions, the Lyumei Bridge was also under traffic control from 7:00 PM until the trial concluded.

County Mayor Hsu stated that this marks the first time since Nantou’s founding that the county has successfully secured a national celebratory event. With the National Day fireworks set to be launched in Nantou, the county government is making thorough preparations. Although Nantou’s geographic scale and related infrastructure may not rival those of larger cities, the county hopes this event will encourage visitors to explore Nantou at a leisurely pace rather than just making a quick trip. The National Day fireworks on October 10th will be set off along the banks of the Maoluo River—a venue well-known as the site of the annual Nantou Lantern Festival.

To allow more citizens to enjoy the fireworks display, Nantou City Mayor Chang Chia-Che designated Weixin Shengjiao College (易經大學) and the Wang-Lai Industrial Park (旺來產業園區) as public viewing locations. County Mayor Hsu expressed her gratitude for this thoughtful arrangement.

Following the trial firing of the National Day fireworks, County Mayor Hsu requested all relevant departments to further review traffic control, shuttle services, and viewing arrangements. She also asked the township office to have village and neighborhood representatives promote and publicize the control measures. The county government emphasized that organizing a fireworks event is a valuable learning opportunity and stressed the importance of thorough preparation.

This year's fireworks will feature Nantou's natural landscape as the backdrop, near the Maoluo River and Lover’ s Bridge. The unique interplay between the skyline and riverbank creates a one-of-a-kind setting that captures Nantou’s distinctive National Day spirit, offering a visual spectacle unlike any other in Taiwan.
