On the evening of October 10th at 8 PM, a dazzling 40-minute fireworks display lit up the skies along the Maoluo River in Nantou, marking the 114th birthday of the Republic of China. This was the largest fireworks show in the past decade, featuring 43,000 shells and drawing an estimated crowd of 280,000 spectators. It was also the first National Day fireworks celebration to ever be held in Nantou since the county’s founding. Nantou County Mayor Hsu Shu-Hua surprised the spectators by taking on the role of DJ, energizing the crowd with a passionate performance that became the highlight of the evening.

The 114th National Day fireworks display was launched along the bank of the Maoluo River in Nantou, attended by President Lai Ching-Te, Legislative Yuan President Han Kuo-Yu and his wife, along with several legislators. Everyone worked diligently to ensure the event was a success, and President Lai extended his warm wishes for a happy birthday to the Republic of China.

The 114th National Day fireworks of the Republic of China were held in Nantou. County Mayor Hsu expressed her gratitude to Chairman Han Kuo-Yu of the National Day Celebration Committee for entrusting the Nantou County Government with the important responsibility of hosting the fireworks display. For the people of Nantou, this was a moment of great pride and honor. Through the dazzling fireworks, the passion and hospitality of Nantou’s residents were vividly showcased.

To further energize the festivities, County Mayor Hsu took on the role of DJ, delivering an enthusiastic performance that surprised and delighted the guests. The atmosphere reached its peak as President Lai and Legislative Yuan President Han joined the crowd in applause and cheers, celebrating the Republic of China’s birthday together.

County Mayor Hsu emphasized that Nantou is considered the heart of Taiwan. Nantou is home to Taiwan’s tallest peak, Mount Jade; its largest lake, Sun Moon Lake; and its longest river, the Zhuoshui River. This year’s fireworks display was inspired by Nantou’s breathtaking landscapes, culminating in the creation of “Colorful Ink Fireworks” — a fusion of traditional aesthetics and contemporary music that delivered a stunning visual and sensory experience.

She also remarked that this gathering in Nantou is more than a celebration — it is a heartfelt tribute to Taiwan. May the brilliant fireworks reflect our deep love and pride for our country. May the Republic of China continue to thrive and progress sustainably. Happy Birthday to the Republic of China!
