Hosted by the Nantou County Government, the 2026 Central Taiwan Agricultural Expo, a grand agricultural showcase highlighting Central Taiwan’s green trends, will be held from August 22 to 30 at the parking area of the JiuJiuFeng Helium Balloon Park in Caotun. Nantou County Magistrate Hsu Shu-Hua warmly invites people from across Taiwan to gather in Nantou and enjoy a one-stop showcase of safe, smart, and sustainable agricultural achievements from eight counties and cities across Central Taiwan. Visitors can “go on a tethered helium balloon ride, explore the exhibition, sip fine tea by day, and watch the sunset by evening,” experiencing the charm of Central Taiwan’s most livable and happy communities.   

 At the launch press conference on July 31, Nantou County Magistrate Hsu was joined by dignitaries, including Yunlin Deputy County Magistrate Chen Bi-Jyun; Taichung Agriculture Bureau Director Tsai Yung-Sheng; Hsinchu City Economic Development Department Director Yan Yi-Qi; Hsinchu County Agriculture Department Director Fu Chi-Mei; Miaoli County Agriculture Department Director Chen Shu-Yi; Changhua County Agriculture Department Director Kuo Chih-Shan; Chiayi City Economic Affairs Department Director Lo Tzu-Cheng; and Nantou City Mayor Chang Chia-Che. Together, they announced the official launch of the expo.

 County Magistrate Hsu noted that, with food safety concerns in the spotlight, consumers are increasingly focused on how to eat and shop safely and healthily. The nine-day expo brings together premium agricultural specialties from across Central Taiwan: Changhua’s grapes and guavas, Taichung’s mushrooms and citrus fruits, Nantou’s teas and plums, Miaoli’s fruits and Hakka products, Yunlin’s vegetables and premium meats, Chiayi’s “Chiayi Happiness Rice” (Tainung No. 82) and dragon fruit, Hsinchu County’s grass jelly and dried persimmons, and Hsinchu City’s fragrant rice and rice noodles. Each product represents the hard work and ingenuity of local farmers and is backed by production traceability, organic certification, and rigorous quality standards. As Hsu emphasized, “If it’s from Central Taiwan, it’s synonymous with quality and peace of mind.”

 The expo features eight themed pavilions: Tasting Nantou (品味南投), Taichung Freshest (臺中領鮮), Hsinchu City Goods (竹風好市), Charming Hsinchu (靚靚竹縣), Miaoli Flavor (豐味苗栗), Changhua County Fresh Select (彰化優鮮), Yunlin Goods (雲林良品), and Happiness Chiayi (幸福嘉義). Each pavilion highlights the unique strengths and certified quality of local agriculture through engaging brand storytelling. This year’s event also incorporates “land aesthetics and immersive experiences,” creating a healing atmosphere surrounded by greenery and harvests. A vibrant “butterfly flower wall” symbolizes the elegant transformation of traditional agriculture toward a more sustainable future.

The Nantou County Government hopes the expo will not only open up broader market channels for farmers but also inspire the public to support local agriculture in practical ways, contributing to Taiwan’s sustainable future. During the nine-day event, Nantou County residents can enjoy half-price admission by presenting their ID, while residents of each participating county or city can receive the same discount on their designated “Brand Day.” Daily programs include hands-on agri-food education and DIY workshops, allowing participants to experience the valuable journey “from farm to table.” Moreover, each county will take turns hosting its own “Brand Day” activities, sharing unique agricultural stories and surprises.
