To honor the lifelong devotion and contributions of fathers to their families and society, the Nantou County Government held the 2026 Model Father Recognition Ceremony on the morning of August 6 at the Classic Hotel in Yuchi Township. With the theme “Thankful for Father’s Love: Where Love Leads Nantou Forward,” 16 exemplary fathers from across the county were recognized. Surrounded by their families, each honoree took the stage to receive a commemorative plaque and blessings from Nantou County Magistrate Hsu Shu-Hua, symbolizing heartfelt appreciation for their lifelong dedication and contributions.
This year’s program included a special arrangement for the honorees to stay at the hotel the night before and enjoy a welcome banquet with their families, giving them cherished moments of warmth and togetherness ahead of Father’s Day. On the day of the ceremony, the fathers walked down a red-carpet “star avenue,” greeted by applause, cheers, and confetti from family members and guests, making them the brightest stars of the event. The county government also invited the Sun Moon Lake Tea Culture Promotion Association to host a gratitude tea ceremony themed “Fathers Above All,” serving tea to each model father during the award presentation as a gesture of respect and appreciation.
The event was attended by County Councilors Wang Chiu-Shu and Shih Ching-Lung (Rungquan.Lhkatafatu), Nantou City Mayor Chang Chia-Che, Yuchi Township Mayor Liu Chi-Fan, as well as township representatives, township office members, and village representatives.
In her remarks, County Magistrate Hsu noted that among the 16 honorees, 13 were recognized in the general category and three in the disability category. Each has a unique life story marked by perseverance and service, whether in farming, business, law enforcement, politics or civil service. Many have also devoted years to social welfare, community work, mediation, and volunteer service, extending the love they show their families into a broader spirit of compassion for society. County Magistrate Hsu expressed hope that future generations will carry on the admirable values and examples set by their elders, honor the dedication and sacrifices of fathers, and, through each father’s story, inspire society to recognize the strength of family and the values of filial respect, gratitude, responsibility, and selfless devotion.
