Application for National Health Insurance Cards begins on July 1 at the Township Office. It is timesaving and convenient.
    Nantou County Government has just provided another innovative measure. For the convenience of the townsfolk, starting from July 1, they can apply for National Health Insurance Cards or their replacement at the district Township Offices in their own district or across districts. On June 26, the County Government and the National Health Insurance Administration held a press conference—“Integrated and Cross-district Household Registration Service—Convenient Stop for National Health Insurance Cards” at the Caotun Township Office. Secretary General Fang Hsin-hsiung of the County Government and Section Chief Fang Chi-lin, Central Branch of National Health Insurance Administration announced the new service measure to the people together.

    The National Health Insurance system has been implemented in Taiwan for years, with significant achievements. However, for applications for new health insurance cards and the replacement of the cards, people had to apply for them at the offices of the Central Branch of National Health Insurance Administration. It is rather inconvenient. In the future, the government will provide new and convenient service to allow people apply for new cards or replacement cards at all district township offices in Nantou, saving them time with this convenient and considerate service item.

    Secretary General Fang expressed that the township offices in Nantou County have integrated with the National Health Insurance Office to provide this convenient service. In the future, no townsfolk need go to Taichung to apply for insurance cards. They just need to apply for the health insurance cards at their local township office. After receiving the payment slip, they can pay the registration fees at any financial institution or convenience store within 14 days. After the payment is settled, they will receive the health insurance card in 7 days.

    Section Head Fang expressed that this measure is designed for the people. With this inter-departmental service, in the future, new born babies or people who to replace identity cards and health insurance cards in case of loss or changes of household registration information, including name, birth date, and unified identity card number change, can apply for new or replacement insurance cards at all district township offices in Nantou. In addition, the NHIA will endeavor promote this service platform to all the towns and cities in Taiwan. With the spirit of serving people well, all staff will ask applicants if they need to apply for national health insurance cards when they are seeking related services at township offices.

    Starting from July 1, all the residents in Nantou, if they are applying for household registration for new born babies, replacement of identity cards or health insurance cards, or changes of household registration information, they can apply for national health insurance card at the same time. All they need to do is to pay the registration fees NT$200 at any financial institutions or convenience stores, including post offices, banks, Family Mart, 7-11, OK, and HiLife. They can receive the new cards within 7 days.
