County Mayor Lin Applauded and Assured and National Nantou Senior High School Tug of War Team that Won 4 Gold Medals and 2 Silver Medal
    National Nantou Senior High School (NNSHS) Tug of War Team joined WK Indoor 2016 International Tug of War Events in the Netherlands and won 4 gold medals and 2 silver medals for its achievement. There were 21 members from the Taiwan team who were escorted by Nantou City Mayor Huai-lin Sung, NNSHS Principal Kuo-hsuan Huang, and Director of the Board of NNSHS Education Foundation & Tour Escort Hui-teng Tseng to go to the county hall to receive praise from County Mayor Ming-Chen Lin and take pictures with him to share their memories with others.

    County Mayor Lin said this Tug of War activity shows even great emphasis on the team spirit in addition to its qualifications. They make every effort to impress compatriots by working hard in this competition. Thank you for the contribution of all cyclists and coaches to make everyone proud for being supportive. County Mayor Lin said, in order to deal with the issue of funding for going abroad for competitions, the county government and legislators will work hard to offer assistance. He also asked the Ministry of Education to work out a budget planning for subsidies so the cyclists may take advantage of them for going abroad for competitions.

    As the alumnus, City Mayor Sung hoped everyone could clap their hands and support the sports event. He hoped also that the central government could care more about it and offer assistance. Principal Huang said he was very glad that children outperformed. It is very important that people from all walks of life support such event with funding besides cyclists and coaches working hard on the practice. He said he has been financing going abroad to compete for the Asian Cup and World Cup all these years. Such school education foundation has reached an amount of 19 million for its funding in hopes that it will no longer be a problem in future.

    NNSHS Tug of War Team was founded in 1998 (87th Year of The Republic of China) with 8 people. Starting from 2010 (99th Year of The Republic of China), the team won the championship for the boy group in national tug of war tournament each year, and obtained the qualification for going abroad competition as a national team. This year, the team was awarded with 4 gold medals and 2 silver medals, which is the best score it can get throughout these years. Kids are all extraordinary and can outperform when they go abroad for competition. It is not easy to receive positive comments from international reviews.

    Team leader Peng-wen Chen said they felt much under pressure for this year when they went abroad to compete because the funding from all walks of life increased a lot more compared to past years. Everyone wants to perform well. Although cyclists were struggling through training and competition, they were all very grateful for everyone’s support, which has become their staunch backing. They are so glad that they can share a good result with compatriots and that more people care about this tug of war sport.
