CM Lin Gives an Affirmative Reply to the Gourmet that Represents Nantou Culture to Advance to the Villa of US Congress
    Jin-Du Restaurant in Puli went to the United States in early May on behalf of Taiwan to join in the marketing and promotional campaign for Taiwan gourmet in Washington DC. On the 3rd day of May, a press conference was held in the restaurant. In addition to introducing all the fresh ingredients, the restaurant also invited people to try out the delicious food by cooking all the fresh ingredients. CM Lin Ming-Chen gave an affirmative reply to the dishes in hopes that Tourism and Travel in Nantou can be introduced to people through marketing by promoting its gourmet culture to let more people get to know Nantou.

    CM Lin said it is not so easy to go to the USA and develop a marketing plan for the local gourmets in Nantou. He let foreign friends get to know Nantou by sampling local gourmet foods on the tip of their tongues. It is the best way for cultural interchange and promotion. It will help a lot to develop the foreign tourism market in Nantou. He also hopes that Jin-Du Restaurant can take this opportunity to communicate with the food and beverage enterprise run by overseas Chinese to learn from each other. He hopes they can come up with a better menu in future and successfully increase the visibility of its business.

    Chairman Lin Su-Chen of Jin-Du Restaurant said this trip to the USA was not only an honor to the profession of Jin-Du, but also something that Nantou, or the entire Taiwan, can take pride in. We greatly appreciated the county government’s help as well as the help of Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) and Corporate Synergy Development Center in can making it happen. The restaurant will send 5 kitchen employees to the USA for exchange, and cooperate with the Seven Seas Chinese Restaurant that has been running more than 30 years in the US to do 3 banquets. Hopefully, Jin-Du can do the diplomatic mission right by introducing the delicious food.

    Master Chef A-Hung said hilariously that he never thought that he would cook delicious food on his first trip to the USA. This is such a great challenge for him because he cannot take any local fresh ingredients with him. He must buy about two-thirds of the ingredients in the USA. Right now, what he can do first is prepare the sauce and ingredients in vacuum/frozen packages first. Hopefully, the master chef can show everything about how to cook the delicious food.

    The county government is also very active in this event, and is into everything to promote the products and tourism in some large ring scenic spots such as the Taichi Yosemite. The government promotes all kinds of fresh bamboo shoots and Oolong tea and put it on an international stage. Jin-Du Restaurant has prepared 20 dishes on their trip to USA. Among all these dishes, the Five-Element Hot Pot served in edible vegetable papyrus uses the cultural and creative product created by Taiwan Paper Corp. in Puli. It took advantage of the “edible vegetable papyrus,” to bring in the cultural creativity of Puli to the villa of the Congress in Washington DC so the world can see Taiwan.
