County Magistrate Lin Planned Tourism Activities - Lantern Festival will come on the Stage with Sand Sculptures and Dinosaur Expo
CM Mr. Lin Ming-Chen has a new idea about how to develop local tourism. Lin invited World Trade Center Taichung and other units to look at the site at the county exhibition center for the Dinosaur Expo on April 14. CM Lin said he needed to cooperate with the lantern festival, which will be held in Nantou city next year. To do so, he planned to start the opening ceremony at the sand sculpture park area. The county government also planned to hold the Dinosaur Expo at the county exhibition center. Three activities would start the show at the same time. People would definitely squeeze in the ceremony to watch the show in Nantou!
CM Lin said the new built exhibition center would not be left unused. The county government said the government would put the main lantern outside the exhibition center to celebrate the lantern festival. It would also hold the Dinosaur Expo as scheduled in the surrounding area. The Dinosaur Expo can extend its time if needed to attract more tourists to come to Nantou for travel and shopping. It may promote local development in this way.
WTC Taichung GM Chen Hung-Yueh said WTC Taichung has introduced the Dinosaur Expo activity 2 decades ago. It started the action even early than the National Museum of Natural Science (NMNS). WTC Taichung could be the earliest curating unit that held the Dinosaur Expo if we try to make it clear. However, there is always a market for the Dinosaur Expo. The Dinosaur Expo has survived throughout these years. Nantou county government planned to establish an ecological education park at the scenic spot known as the 99 Peaks (“Jiujiu Feng”). The government tried to merge the dinosaur ecology with the park. As for Nantou city, the government planned to hold the Dinosaur Expo. As to the projects for promotion, WTC Taichung is willing to provide relevant experience as a FYR for the county government to think twice. The sand sculpture will combine with lantern festival and the Dinosaur Expo to motivate the local business. It is also a great chance for development.
As for the activities held by the county government in Nantou city, County Councilor Tseng Chen-Yen, Chang Wei-Hua all expressed their full support for this planning. County Councilor Tseng said CM Lin has a good idea and he said it with affirmative praise. It is so exciting to see future activities held in Nantou city. County Councilor Chang said it only takes about 2-to-3-minute to drive and get you to the destination of the lantern festival in Nantou city if you start driving from the Nantou interchange when you get off at National Highway 3. The location is fine and it sounds very attractive.
“Only if the government promised to protect the river security, will WRA be willing to cooperate and support activities on the river banks held by the county government to promote tourism at Maoluo River,” said the Third River Management Office, WRA Director-General Yang Jen-Chieh.
