Nantou County Government held “2023 Model Mother Commendation Conference” at Le Midi Hotel Chitou on May 11th. Every model mother and her family members were invited to stay for free in the hotel on the day before the event. County Mayor Hsu ShuHua attended the event to congratulate the role models. She expressed her hope that everyone appreciates their mother for her selfless dedication, and to be good to parents in time. The event officially started after the role models walked through the red carpet and listened to the heartwarming music banquet of the 50jia Chinese Orchestra and Midi Band. County Mayor Hsu awarded each role model a plaque with the words “Model Mom” engraved on it. The family members also took this opportunity to present flowers to thank her for selfless dedication to the family. County Mayor Hsu said that the county government specially held the commendation conference for model mothers as Mother’s Day was just around the corner. This year, as usual, a total of 16 model mothers, from 90 to 60 years old, were recommended by various public offices, of which 13 were representatives of townships and cities, and the other 3 were representatives with disabilities. Being a mother is not easy. They have shown real dedication to the family and have done their best to raise and cultivate their children to become elites and pillars of society. They are worth to be role models for mothers. In addition, she expressed her gratitude to Le Midi Hotel Chitou for co-organizing this event, offering the model mothers and their family members free accommodation to have a happy holiday. Lastly, she wished mothers all over the world a happy Mother's Day. The oldest model mother is 94-year-old Shih Fu TsaiPi who lives in Zhushan Township. She had worked in the education field for 42 years from November 1946 to August 1988, during which time she was awarded as an outstanding teacher by the county government. After work, in addition to her in-laws, she also took care of her sister-in-law and brother-in-law. Even today, they respect her like a mother.
