The 13th annual Nantou Global Tea Expo, started from 2010, took place from Oct 7th to Oct 15th in Chung Hsing New Village. In her opening speech, County Mayor Hsu ShuHua invited everyone to enjoy good tea in Nantou in the long weekend for Taiwan National Day. In addition, Director of Agriculture and Food Agency of MOA, Hu Jong-I, praised the Nantou Global Tea Expo for not only truly establishing the international brand awareness of Taiwan Tea World Fragrance, but also being a model of the collaboration between local governments and the central government on creating new future for Taiwan’s tea industry. County Mayor Hsu pointed out that in the past 14 years, except for one suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all the other 13 Nantou Global Tea Expos had brought tourists and tea lovers countless surprises. During the nine-day expo from 7th to 15th, in addition to the 28 exhibition halls, she strongly suggested tourists and tea lovers to participate in the series of extremely popular activities such as Thousands People Tea Ceremony, Thousands People Collectable Tea, and Thousands People Brown Rice Lei Cha. The much-anticipated activities: Thousands People Tea Banquet, Thousands People Brewing Tea, Little Tea Sommeliers’ Tea Service, Thousands People Collectable Tea, Thousands People Brown Rice Lei Cha and Thousands People Tea Ceremony, took place in turn in the long weekend for Taiwan National Day and the 14th and 15th. Among them, the "Thousands People Tea Banquet," a feast of Nantou specialty flavors, was held for the first time. The chef made delicacies with tea leaves and a large number of special agricultural products from various townships and villages in Nantou County, enabling the banquet goers experience the characteristics of Nantou County's agricultural products while enjoying the delicacies. As for "Little Tea Sommeliers’ Tea Service," young tea masters dressed up in costumes to demonstrate different tea cultures, including Chinese tea settings, family tea settings, Taiwanese contemporary tea settings, and international tea settings, just like a costume party spanning ancient and modern times. In the “Thousands People Tea Ceremony” on the last day, with 350 unique tea settings, tea lovers from all over the world gathered in the playground and sit on the ground to taste tea and to enjoy the fragrance of tea and the sound of music. All pavilions and halls were located in the Chung Hsing Playground and its peripheral area, Chung Hsing Assembly Hall and Youth Activity Center. A series of tea ceremony performances were performed by Taiwan, China, Japan, Korea, Persia, and U.K. In addition, a variety of funny tea activities were available in the playground, including DIY Tea Activities, Tea and Music, Lyrical Flowing Water, Dancing Cups of Tea, etc.. This expo featured 3 major exhibition zones with a total of 28 thematic halls and more than 22 special themes in tea industry. A special "Nantou Youth Farmers' Pavilion" was added to showcase the growth achievements of young farmers in the county, which featured Qingnong Supermarket to sale high-quality agricultural products. Moreover, the aim of "Taiwan Heritage Tea Pavilion" and "Taiwan Tea Technology and Flavor Specialty Pavilion" was to demonstrate the latest tea technology information and to introduce Taiwan’s various specialty teas and related experience activities. At the closing ceremony on the 15th, County Mayor Hsu announced with joy that the number of visitors to the Tea Expo exceeded 900,000, and the sales amount reached NT$ 180 million. Even though the rain on the opening day disrupted the schedule and enforced the postponing of the Thousands People Tea Ceremony for the first time, thanks to Nantou’s universally acclaimed good tea and variety of activities held, large number of visitors still came to the Chung Hsing New Village to smell fragrance, taste and purchase good tea at the Nantou Global Tea Expo.
