The “Songling Star (松嶺之星)” viewing platform in Songboling, MingJian Township is 60% complete. A beam-raising ceremony was held on September 23rd, which first with the ritual purification performed by the master. County Mayor Hsu ShuHua and Deputy County Mayor Wang RuiDe led the representatives from the Department of Tourism, architects, and construction teams to devoutly offer incense and pray for blessings. After that, the last structural steel beam (the 5th) of the inner and outer spiral staircases was lifted and installed successfully.

County Mayor Hsu pointed out that with the crowded pilgrims to the Shou Tian Gong Temple (受天宮), the center of Taoist belief in Xuantian Shangdi (玄天上帝) all over Taiwan, the Songling Star is expected to turn pilgrims to its visitors and become a new attraction. The county government attaches great importance to the development of agriculture and tourism in MingJian Township. This project was planned and started during the time of the former county mayor Lin MingChen. Up to now, the construction works have been expedited to have around 60% completion. After completion, it will be a new opportunity to reverse the prosperity and development progress of MingJian Township. As a result, she devoutly prays for the safety of the engineering personnel, the successful completion next year and the successful implement of OT (Operate- Transfer) model based on the Act for Promotion of Private Participation in Infrastructure Projects (促進民間參與公共建設法).

The beam-raising ceremony was simple but solemn. The observation tower, main body of the Songling Star, is taking shape. The Department of Tourism pointed out that the Songling Star Park will set up a shopping street to sell local agricultural products and religious cultural products. High up in the building, in addition to a 360-degree viewing space with glass curtain walls, the outdoor observation deck with a transparent glass floor will give visitors the sensation of walking on air and the chance of testing their courage. It is worth mentioning that Songling Star has obtained the Certificate of the Intelligent Building Candidate and Green Building Candidate Certificate, in line with County Mayor Hsu’s policy direction of “sustainability and low-carbon, rich in culture and talent”.

When the weather is clear, the Songling Star will offer visitors a bird’s eye view of the Bagua table land, the spectacular landscapes of Taichung, Changhua and Nantou, and breathtaking sunset and night view. In particular, the distinctive outdoor double spiral staircases offer visitors who stroll up or down another kind of viewing pleasure. When night falls, there will be a colorful light show displaying the four seasons constellation on the dynamic LED spherical light curtain. The ribbon landscape park in the atrium area will offer visitors different visual fields when they walk on the undulating and surrounding walkway. Furthermore, there will be three high-quality public art pieces designed based on local cultural characteristics, expecting to become a new tourism hotspot on the Bagua Mountain leisure axis in Nantou County to attract more tourists and boost industrial development.
