12 Athletics Broke Record in 9 Events in 72nd Nantou City Athletic Games. Nov. 26th

The 72nd Nantou City Athletic Games was grandly opened on the 23rd. 36 sports events successfully took place at 27 venues including Nantou County Stadium. After 4 days of keen competition, a total of 12 athletics broke the record in 9 events. Among which, Wang Jhih-Huei from Nantou Junior High School achieved excellent results that broke the Games record in Junior Girls’ hammer throw event, presenting the perseverance and remarkable strength of Nantou County players. The grand closing ceremony took place at the International Conference Hall in Nantou County Government building on the 26th. In her speech, County Mayor Hsu Shu-Hua expressed her heartfelt gratitude to coaches for their careful guidance, to parents and all walks of life for their support and to all the contestants for their fighting spirit, all of them contributed to the dazzling results. Moreover, on behalf of all the athletes, she expressed her sincerest appreciation and renewed the assurances of her highest consideration to all groups and individuals who pay attention and support the sports development of Nantou County.

 

The athletes performed brilliantly in this Games. County Mayor Hsu presented awards in person one by one at the closing ceremony. The following are the athletics who broke the Games record: Luo Yi-En (羅苡恩) from Nantou County Nangang Junior High School broke the Games record in Junior Girls’ 200m freestyle swimming event with 2:43.60; Lin Yi-Jia (林弈鴐) in Men’s 400m athletic event clocked 49.71; Hsu An-Tong (許安彤) in Women’s long jump event clocked 5.45m; Hsu An-Tong (許安彤) in Junior Girls’ long jump event with 5.28m; Tsai Jhih-Jie (蔡智傑) from Nantou Junior High School in Junior Boys’ hammer throw event with 36.83m; Wang Jhih-Huei (王稚惠) from Nantou Junior High School set a county record and Games record in Junior Girls’ hammer throw event of 37.11m; Chang Yong-Siang (張詠翔), Ke Cheng-Yan (柯丞彥), Kuo Jin-Kuan (郭勁寬) and Pan You-Syuan (潘佑軒) broke the Games record in Elementary Boys’ 4X100m relay event clocked 52.40; Lu Sin-Min (呂昕旻) from National Caotun Commercial & Industrial Vocational Senior High School in High School Boys’ shot put and Liao Fang-Yu (廖芳郁) from such school in High School Girls’ 800m athletic event.

 

The top four in each tournament are as follows. Overall Tournament: Winner: Caotun Township (received the Jheng-Fong trophy), 1st runner-up: Puli Township, 2nd runner-up: Nantou City and 3rd runner-up: Zhushan Township. Adaptive Sports Tournament: Winner: National Puli Industrial Vocational Senior High School, 1st runner-up: Nan Gwang Elementary School, 2nd runner-up: Puli Junior High School, 3rd runner-up: Da Cheng Junior High School; Faculty and Staff Tournament: Winner: Xinyi Township Educational Association, 1st runner-up: Nantou City Educational Association, 2nd runner-up: Shuili Township Educational Association, 3rd runner-up: Renai Township Educational Association; Public Servant Tournament: Winner: Police Department, 1st runner-up: Caotun Township Office, 2nd runner-up: Fire Department, and 3rd runner-up: Zhushan Township Office.

   

County Mayor Hsu pointed out that the 72nd Nantou City Athletic Games, a four-day exciting and intense sports event from the 23rd to the 26th, drew to a successful close. The performance of the players this year was particularly eye-catching. A total of 12 athletics broke the Games record in 9 events, among which the hammer throw in Junior Girls' group even set the best record in Nantou County.

 

County Mayor Hsu also mentioned that in the first half of the year, the county government has issued more than NT$20 million in sports scholarships for the National Middle School Athletic Games, the National Disabled Games, and various leagues. In the latter half of the year, prizes that have been approved and prepared to be awarded for sports events including the National Games exceed NT$10 million. As a result, a minimum of NT$31 million will be awarded as sports prizes throughout the year.

 

She also expressed her gratitude to the Nantou County Sports Association, various individual committees and township sports associations for their efforts. After she took office, she compiled an annual training fund of NT$15 million for the development of various sports, and the budget for next year will be increased by an additional NT$5 million, with a total budget of NT$ 20 million to help more athletes in different sports keep improving and pushing themselves.
