Accompanied by a continuous stream of worshippers and devotees, the "Pink Supercar"—the iconic Mazu palanquin from Baishatun Gongtian Temple—entered Nantou County via Yuanji Road in Ershui, Changhua, at noon on May 6th as part of its return pilgrimage. That evening, the palanquin stayed overnight at Songboling Shoutian Temple. At 6:00 AM on May 7th, Nantou County Mayor Hsu Shu-Hua, joined by Deputy County Mayor Wang Rui-De and other government officials, held a solemn farewell ceremony featuring floral offerings and incense. The procession then continued along Mingsong Road, turning at Zhongnan Road in front of the Chishui Police Station before exiting Nantou and proceeding toward Tianzhong in Changhua.
During her return journey, the Baishatun Mazu pilgrimage passed through Nantou County on May 6th. Mayor Hsu Shu-Hua first paid her respects at Xiuxuan Temple—where Mazu paused to rest for lunch—offering prayers on bended knee. Later that afternoon, as the procession officially commenced its Nantou tour at 3:00 p.m., Mayor Hsu again knelt by the roadside to welcome the palanquin. She was deeply moved when the palanquin approached her, as if bestowing a blessing. Emotionally, Mayor Hsu remarked that this marked the first time in 200 years that Baishatun Mazu had truly visited Nantou as part of a touring procession. She expressed her firm belief that with Mazu's grace, Nantou County would be blessed with lasting peace and prosperity. As a gesture of gratitude, she vowed to make a special trip to Gongtian Temple to offer her thanks, also voicing the hope that Baishatun Mazu would return to Nantou for future pilgrimages every year.
Mayor Hsu shared her heartfelt prayers—for Taiwan to be free from the threat of war, for the nation’s continued flourishing, and for the safety and well-being of all county residents, including those in agriculture, tourism, and other industries. She also prayed for the health and longevity of her family’s elders. With sincerity and reverence, she renewed her appeal for Mazu’s annual return and reaffirmed her intention to personally visit Gongtian Temple in gratitude after the pilgrimage.
On the early morning of May 7th, Mayor Hsu respectfully presented floral offerings as the pilgrimage prepared to depart. She was joined by Gongtian Temple Chairman Hung Wen-Hua and Shoutian Temple Chairman Chen Teng-Yueh. Legislators Yu Hao and Ma Wen-Chun, along with several county council members, also participated—offering incense and expressing collective appreciation for Mazu’s divine grace. After the farewells, the palanquin resumed its return journey along Mingsong Road, made a brief stop at Gongxie Elementary School, then turned onto Zhongnan Road in front of the Chishui Police Station, heading toward Tianzhong in Changhua.
Mayor Hsu reflected on the historic nature of the visit, noting that every stop along Mazu’s path in Nantou drew crowds that filled the streets with festive energy and devotion. She noted that many Nantou residents had been deeply concerned from the outset about whether the Mazu procession would pass through Nantou. The fact that Mazu finally entered Nantou from Changhua after two centuries, she said, was profoundly meaningful. She met numerous residents who had traveled from distant townships such as Xinyi, Ren’ai, Puli, and Shuili—an inspiring testament to the community’s deep-rooted devotion to Mazu. As county mayor, she felt deeply honored and duty-bound to personally welcome and bid farewell to Mazu.
