The 113th Academic Year County Mayor’s Award Ceremony was held at National Chung Hsing Senior High School at 9:00 AM on June 15th, celebrating the accomplishments of 420 graduating students across Nantou County. County Mayor Hsu Shu-Hua personally presented the awards and offered her congratulations. Amid concerns over reductions in central government subsidies to local administrations, she reaffirmed the county’s commitment to reallocating resources to ensure children receive quality care and education.
The awards honored students at every academic level—from university and senior high to junior high and elementary school. To share in this milestone, many parents and teachers accompanied the students, taking photos with County Mayor Hsu. Legislator Yu Hao and County Councilor Lin Ju-Yang were also in attendance.
In her speech, County Mayor Hsu highlighted her administration’s continued investment in educational infrastructure, citing initiatives such as “One-Interactive Whiteboard-Per-Classroom” and “One-Tablet-Per-Student.” These educational policies have been implemented in schools, and the county government has also invested in upgrading classroom furniture to enhance the learning environment.
She acknowledged that the recent reductions in central subsidies had affected some aspects of school development. However, she pledged that the county government would make appropriate adjustments to safeguard educational quality. She also called on educators to remain dedicated to nurturing students with care and diligence.
“I’m grateful to all principals and teachers for their guidance,” remarked County Mayor Hsu, acknowledging the unwavering dedication of educators who nurture students with patience and compassion. She expressed hope that students raised in Nantou will enjoy a bright and promising future. To help realize that vision, Nantou County is expanding its overseas learning scholarship fund to NT$13 million this year. The program not only boosts financial support for students studying abroad but also empowers them to confidently engage in international competitions—advancing the county’s educational vision of “Rooted in Nantou, Eyes on the World.”
This year’s award recipients received commemorative gifts: a customized EasyCard inscribed with "Excellent in Academics and Conduct" by master calligrapher Lee Ku-Mo, and a hipster backpack titled “Knowledge on the Go.” These tokens reflect the county mayor’s blessings and expectations for every graduate as they embark on the next stage of their academic journey.
