In 2023, the Nantou County Government established the “Tasting Nantou” Project Management Center to develop a comprehensive certification and classification system for local products. To date, 182 businesses and 413 products have earned certification, spanning agriculture, food processing, lifestyle, cultural creativity, and agritourism. This initiative has successfully elevated the value of Nantou’s local agricultural brands. On the afternoon of July 3rd, an achievement presentation was held in the county government’s first-floor lobby, bringing together representatives from Nantou’s agricultural enterprises, young farmers, and major distribution channel partners to witness the brand's development over the past two years.
The event opened with a red carpet-style entrance led by County Mayor Hsu Shu-Hua, accompanied by certified vendors proudly carrying “Tasting Nantou” flags. This symbolic gesture underscored the county government’s commitment to working hand-in-hand with local industries to forge a new chapter in brand development. County Mayor Hsu also presented brand emblem badges to recognize the Nantou County Farmers’ Association and the 13 township and city-level farmers’ associations for their dedication and perseverance in advancing the brand. Attendees included County Councilor Lin Ju-Yang, Chief Executive Officer of Nantou County Farmers’ Association Tseng Ming-Rui, several chief executive officers of township and city farmers' associations, and industry leaders.
During the event, a video showcasing the project’s milestones was played, highlighting achievements in certification system development, digital transformation, and channel expansion. The new brand slogan— “Tasting Nantou, Leading with Elegance”— was officially unveiled, marking the beginning of a new phase of brand upgrading and transformation. This reflects the county government’s determination and commitment to fostering industrial prosperity and redefining the value of local agriculture.
County Mayor Hsu noted that since its launch in 2023, “Tasting Nantou” has received widespread recognition. Its digital transformation has been particularly successful, with over 200 products now available online, a growing membership exceeding 3,900, and total sales reaching NT$24 million. She thanked local businesses for their enthusiastic participation in marketing and promotional campaigns. The county government has also set up “Tasting Nantou” pavilions at major events, achieving impressive sales results. Beyond online sales, the county has expanded its physical retail presence to raise awareness of Nantou’s offerings. Collaborations with leading retailers—including 7-Eleven, Funcom Supermarket, FamilyMart, and the Mercuries F&B Group—have introduced co-branded products and dedicated shelf space, significantly increasing market share and brand visibility for local products. This year, the National Day fireworks will be held alongside the Tea Expo, aiming to attract larger crowds and further promote Nantou’s premium products.
