連至 Family Cluster Infection occurs in Puli The County Government calls for people to Stay Indoors May 30th 完整照片 The first case of a family cluster infection has broken out in Nantou County! Four residents of the Puli Township tested positive for COVID-19, including three members of the same family and a family friend. Many people were listed as contacts as the source of the infection was suspected to be brought back from Northern Taiwan, and the Nantou Department of Health activated the “Puli Township COVID-19 Rapid Testing Project” to mitigate the risks; individuals with footprints that overlap with confirmed cases or those that have suspected symptoms should undergo rapid testing to avoid contracting COVID-19.

Deputy County Mayor Zheng-sheng Chen stated that in view of the successive outbreaks in Caotun and Puli, local residents have been asked to pay special attention when going outdoors. The County’s Department of Health Director Zhao-lang Huang has also urged the public not to go out unless they need to, and remarked that the epidemic is spreading towards Central and Southern Taiwan based on the statistics from the Central Government. The Director has remarked that people going to markets need to be extra careful due to the amount of traffic when buying groceries, which makes people prone to contracting COVID-19.

The Department of Health has reminded the public by announcing positive cases on May 30th and their activity history, individuals with the same footprint should undergo 14 days of self-health monitoring. If symptoms such as fever, upper respiratory tract symptoms, diarrhea, abnormal smell and taste occur, individuals should wear masks and head to the six designated hospitals for medical treatment as soon as possible. These individuals are not allowed to take public transportation and need to proactively submit their activity and contact history when seeking medical treatment. They need to report the aforementioned information to the Nantou County Government’s Department of Health, and please call 1922 or 2220904.

As there have been four positive PCR cases in the Puli District within a single day, the Department of Health has also commissioned the Puli Christian Hospital and the Taichung Veterans General Hospital Puli Branch to activate the “Puli Township COVID-19 Rapid Testing Project” until June 1st, and Puli Township will set up Rapid Testing Stations within the community starting from June 2nd.
