連至 A relief program for COVID-19 is initiated and County Magistrate Lin presents relief payments in person, June 25 完整照片 Nantou County launches a relief program for COVID-19. On the 25th, County Magistrate Lin, Ming-Chen went to Puli, Xinyi and other townships and cities to visit each of the families of the 7 grandpas and grandmas who had recently passed away after being vaccinated against COIVD-19 and presented a relief payment of NT$ 100,000 to each family.

County Magistrate Lin said that except for the severe epidemic, the older adults in the county also have to endure the discomfort after vaccination against Covid-19. Unfortunately, there are already 7 grandpas and grandmas of advanced age in the county who have passed away after receiving the AZ vaccine. The county government provides assistance in applying for vaccine injury compensation. In addition, as the county magistrate, Lin also visited every household of the deceased and presented a relief payment of NT$ 100,000 to the families, hoping that this will be of help to cover funeral affairs. He also prayed for the deceased and offered his condolences.

Early this morning, accompanied by staff from the Department of Social and Labor Affairs, County Magistrate Lin first went to the bank to withdraw the money for relief payment and then headed to the households to present the relief payment as scheduled. He went to Nantou City, Guoxing Township, Puli Township, Sun Moon Lake, Xinyi Township and Mingjian Township to visit a total of 7 households (of 2 grandpas and 5 grandmas who passed away after the vaccination against COVID-19). In addition to devoutly burning incense to pay homage to the deceased, Lin also told the families to try to accept the change. During the entire process, County Magistrate Lin had been keeping in line with the indoor gathering regulations of no more than five people, as well as wearing masks.

According to the county government, the relief payment for the deceased vaccinated against COVID-19: NT$ 100,000 per person for the general population, NT$ 150,000 for middle-low-income households, and NT$ 200,000 for low-income households. The families of the deceased do not need to apply for it. Instead, the payment will be issued after the Public Health Bureau and the Department of Social and Labor Affairs gather information and verify it.

County Magistrate Lin said that these older adults who passed away after being vaccinated ranged from 76 to 93 years old. They were cooperative with the epidemic prevention even at this age but passed away within a few days after receiving the AZ vaccine. Lin hopes that better vaccines can be provided to the elderly and children. This is also the goal that the county government has been working on.
