Tens of thousands of people from all over the country flocked to the Luluna Tribe to celebrate Christmas Eve. Together with Legislator Hsu Shu-Hua, Township Mayor Chuan Chih-Chien and other guests, County Magistrate Lin Ming-Chen attended the lighting event and lighted up the 25-meter-tall giant Christmas tree, which is the tallest in Taiwan, celebrating Christmas Eve with more than 4,000 people and bringing the lighting event to a climax.

The lighting event was presided over by Xinyi Township Mayor Chuan Chih-Chien, with the participation of County Magistrate Lin, Legislator Hsu Shu-Hua, Councilor Chuan Wen-Tsai, Chairman Chiu Jui-Jung of Xinyi Township Council, Executive Tsai Pei-Hui of the Central Taiwan Joint Services Center of the Executive Yuan, Vice Chairman Ku-Tsung Ke-Le-Fang-An of the Council of Indigenous Peoples, Chairman Li Wen-Chung of the Veterans Affairs Council, Jiji Township Mayor Chen Chi-Heng and several township councilpersons and village heads. The event started at 3:00 p.m. and a series of amazing performances were presented. The lighting ceremony kicked off at 6:30 p.m. with the Bunun “Malastapang.” A pastor of Luluna Presbyterian Church also led the prayers and the church choir sang hymns and offered blessings. The atmosphere was vibrant.

Lin Ming-Chen says that Christmas is the New Year of the indigenous tribes in Xinyi Township and that the Luluna tribe holds the lighting event with the tallest Christmas tree in the country every year. The scale of the event is getting bigger every year, and it is one of the most representative events in Xinyi Township. On this day, people from all over the country will also flock to the Luluna tribe to experience the joyous atmosphere of Christmas together. Around the venue alone, more than 3,000 people had a countdown of lighting up the lights together. The scene was magnificent. County Magistrate Lin also invited the public to go to the Dongpu Hot Spring, buy high-quality agricultural products from Xinyi Township, experience the customs of Xinyi Township and have a fulfilling and happy Christmas holidays.
