2024 Nantou Lantern Festival with the theme of “An Inclusive and Livable City” will take place at the Nantou County Expo Center from February 3rd to 25th, featuring 3 major themes, 11 display zones and 10 bright points. Nantou County Mayor Hsu ShuHua invites the public to visit the towns and villages in Nantou with their families to enjoy hot springs, lanterns, flowerscapes, and culinary delights to have a wonderful Lunar New Year holiday.

On the morning of the 26th, Deputy County Mayor Wang RuiDe hosted a publicity press conference for the 2024 Nantou Lantern Festival in the first floor lobby of the county government hall to publish the 1/12 scaled-down 2024 main lantern “Fortune Loong Arrives (福氣龍來)" and announced the co-branding partnership with the popular IPs "LAIMO (馬來貘)” and “Song Song Meow (爽爽貓).” Meanwhile, Boris Wang (王品澔), a new generation singer and actor from Mingjian Township in Nantou, sung the new theme song produced exclusively for the main lantern - YOU ARE THE ONE, making the conference bustling with joyfulness.

“Nantou Lantern Festival, an important annual tourism event in Nantou County, is entering its 9th year. It attracts more than 5 million tourists every year. The county government has taken continuous efforts to arrange diversified content for the annual themed lantern festivals to distinguish from the ones held by other counties and cities. Especially, the last 3 lantern festivals broke away from the framework of the traditional one, not only adopting diverse display content integrated tradition, innovation and art, but also having display zones jointly designed and created by communities, indigenous tribes, elementary school and junior high school students, and enterprises,” said Deputy County Mayor.

2024 Nantou Lantern Festival will grandly kick off on February 3rd with the theme of “An inclusive and Livable City.” It features 3 major themes and will be divided into 11 display zones and 5 types of experience areas (including lantern show for Chinese Lantern Festival, dancing water theater, brand expo, bamboo crafts and sand sculpture, and flowerscapes). By use of crossover co-branding and curatorial practice, the festival aims to be suitable for all ages and to present the appearance of a livable city.

To follow after the mileston of the successful cooperation between the famous illustration IP (Kanahei's Small Animals) and Nantou Lantern Festival last year, the domestic popular IP LAIMO (馬來貘), a black-white Malayan Tapir that took Asia by storm, is invited to be the partner of co-branding this year. In addition to the exclusive themed display zone and a 500 Drone Show that displays patterns with the theme of “LAIMO visits Nantou,” there will be LAIMO themed secondary lantern that is nearly 7 meters high, 11 LAIMO balloon lanterns including Chinese New Year elements, and event exclusive merchandises. In the other hand, the other secondary lantern on the water is produced under the cooperation with the popular IP, Song Song Meow (爽爽貓). Together with the drone show and amazing dancing water show, it is set to be a bright point of Nantou Lantern Festival. Moreover, the 13-meter-high main lantern "Fortune Loong Arrives (福氣龍來)" is a work of a giant loong and auspicious phoenix circling the mountain forest. The giant loong will spit out smoke and will circle 360 degree simultaneously with the phoenix via dual-dynamic mechanical system while Boris Wang (王品澔) sings the new theme song - YOU ARE THE ONE. During the event, the eye catching and blockbuster main lantern show will be available every half hour.
