Nantou Lantern Festival Closing Ceremony Drew Record Crowd of 5.5 Million with Production Value of NT$3.3 Billion, February 25th

The 2024 Nantou Lantern Festival, which lasted for 23 days, came to a perfect end on the evening of February 25th. It featured 3D lighting show on water, land and sky, all-ages suitability and diverse crossover innovative performances. It drew a record-breaking attendance of 5.5 million visitors and drove the production value of the surrounding economic to exceed NT$3.3 billion. Visitors were unwilling to leave, lingering in various display zones. County Mayor Hsu ShuHua looks forward to seeing everyone again next year!

 

The attendees of the closing ceremony included Lin JuYang and Chen YuLin, the county councilors, Chang ChiaChe, Nantou City Mayor, and Yuan GuoSheng, deputy director of the service office of Legislator Yu Hao. Moreover, Tri-mountain National Scenic Area had staff to attend on behalf of Tourism Administration.

 

The closing ceremony was held in the main stage area. County Mayor Hsu and the guests appreciated the last main lantern show and performances together with the public. In the ceremony, County Mayor Hsu awarded certificate of appreciation to the exhibitors for their responding to her concept of a livable city and putting efforts to participate in the event arrangement. “With the enthusiastic participation of all walks of life in setting up the Nantou Lantern Festival event, it has become more exciting and more watchable year by year. Its richness is unique in Taiwan and has successfully generated discussion.” said County Mayor Hsu, “Under the great effort and enthusiastic participation of all the people, the dazzling and colorful Nantou Lantern Festival event featured various distinctive display zones, such as China city exchange display zone, symbiosis and co-glory display zone by communities and associations, corporate-sponsored display zone, and religious lantern display zone. During the Lunar New Year, it had attracted a large crowd to visit Nantou for lantern viewing and traveling, achieving the theme of the lantern festival this year "An inclusive and Livable City".”

 

In her speech, she expressed her gratitude to Tourism Administration, Ministry of Transportation And Communications for government subsidy, to major enterprises in the county for their strong support, and to the county government team for their great efforts. In the other hand, she apologized for the cancellation of the subsequent drone show. She promised that the county government will review and make improvement for the Nantou Lantern Festival event next year to have more careful arrangement and more complete details. It is hoped that the Nantou Lantern Festival event, which Nantou residents are proud of, is able to be expanded next year, to provide the best Lunar New Year event for the residents and domestic and foreign visitors.

 

After the closing ceremony, County Mayor Hsu distributed lucky bags for free in the main stage area. The public lined up for the lucky bag and rushed to take photos with County Mayor Hsu with the main lantern as the background to leave the most beautiful memories. In addition, under the arrangement of the tour guide, the tour group from Malaysia participated in the event to enjoy the last main lantern show. The group members were full of praise for the event with revisit next year agreed unanimously and specially took a photo with County Mayor Hsu.
