The Taiwan Craft Research Institute is situated on the major passages of Sun Moon Lake, Cingjieng Farm Plantation, Jiiouzu Aboriginal Culture Village and covers large space of green lawn as well as stone-carving works. The children may play on the ground or pick up the yearning nut under the thick age-old tree. How is it a nice memory? Ding-Ying Academy
In the past, Caotun area belonged to South-Beitoubao City.During the years of Yongjheng Period in Cing Dynasty, the Han people who came for cultivation had greatly increased. In the 12th year of Yongjheng Period ( 1734 ), in order to educate the children of Pingpu people in Beitoushe, the Cing Dynasty had established a Shesiyue ( community school ) for the aboriginals. It was till the years of Daokuang Period, the people of Beitoushe began to move to Puli gradually. The Shesiyue ( community school ) for the aboriginals did not existed in reality. It was this connection that the then Beitoupao Manager Jhuang, Wun-Bao; staff member Hong, Jii-Chun; and Shengyuan Hong, Jhong-Ying……etc, had raised 5800 silver-dollars and built the Ding-Ying Academy in the present site Beitou Street. The construction work began in October in the 27th Year of Daokuang Period ( 1847 ) and had finished in Decemberin the next year.
